Dr. Michele Anderson joined St. Catherine University in 2025 as an Assistant Professor and coordinator of the Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program. She started as an adjunct faculty member when the program started in 2022. Michele began her career in mental health nursing in 2004 and has actively practiced as a board-certified PMHNP since 2018. Dr. Anderson's clinical background spans the full continuum of psychiatric care, including emergency department crisis, consult liaison in acute medical units, outpatient mental health clinics, and correctional facilities. Dr. Anderson earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Minnesota, her Master of Arts in Transcultural Community Health Nursing from Augsburg University, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Anderson also has a certification in Perinatal Mental Health & Reproductive Psychiatry (PMH-C) from Postpartum Support International, is certified in Healing Touch through the Healing Touch Program, and is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher.   Deeply passionate about mental health advocacy and psychiatric care, Dr. Anderson believes in the fair treatment of all people, including those who experience mental illness. She aims to treat all people with empathy and the belief that healing is possible. Dr. Anderson's teaching philosophy emphasizes critical thinking, real-world applications of evidence-based practice, and holistic patient care, preparing students to make meaningful contributions to the nursing profession.
