Steven H. Kenney, Jr., EdD, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, will join St. Catherine University as ۿ۴ý Vice President for Human Resources, Equity and Inclusion this March.
St. Catherine University President Becky Roloff announced today that Steven H. Kenney, Jr., EdD, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, will join her leadership team as ۿ۴ý Vice President for Human Resources, Equity and Inclusion this spring.
“Every leader here at St. Kate’s lives the example of the leaders we want to launch out in the world,” said Roloff. “Steven emerged among a talented pool of candidates as the leader who can continue the excellent work of the Human Resources, Equity, and Inclusion team, and advance our mission to educate women to lead and influence. We are thrilled to welcome him to campus.”
Kenney currently serves as the Area Vice President for Human Resources and Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer and Title IX Coordinator in Louisiana, where he has been since 2017. In his current role, Kenney serves as the Chief Human Resources Officer, responsible for developing and executing an HR Strategic Plan in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the university. In addition to his role as AVP, he also serves as the university’s Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, leading efforts to develop and sustain an organizational culture of belonging and inclusive excellence through employee development, performance management, organizational communications, and employee relations.
In prior roles, Kenney served as Assistant Director for Human Resources at Framingham State University in Massachusetts, and ۿ۴ý Human Resources Business Partner for Lowe’s Companies, Inc.
He received a bachelor of science degree in human resources management from Auburn University Montgomery in Alabama, a Master of Business Administration degree in Management from University of Alabama Huntsville and a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership from University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Additionally, Kenney has studied in the international arena, having studied at the University of Ulsan in Ulsan, South Korea and the Romanian-American University in Bucharest, Romania. His research focuses on the societal and institutional factors impacting African American males within higher education.
Kenney assumes his responsibilities March 1.
